The Spot Movie Lands Big Movie in Hot Water Following Alleged Copycat Crimes
The recent box-office smash The Spot has gained controversy as of late, following yesterday’s arrests of Miguel Forster and Tim Law, two 15-year-olds who were found stuck to the walls of a bank in Seattle, Washington. The duo were dressed in all black and appeared to be copying the style of titular superhero The Spot.
In the film, which remains the most profitable motion picture of all time, the titular hero The Spot dresses in black has the ability to cling to walls and scare criminals. Forster and Law both claimed to have seen the film over 10 times in the theaters and decided to emulate the film’s hero by sticking to the walls of their local bank. The two refused to remove themselves, and only responded with “I’m The Spot” to bank employees’ demands.
“We kept asking them for hours to please get down,” says bank manager Susan Moreno, “but they kept going ‘I’m the Spot’, ‘I’m the Spot’, ‘I’m the Spot’”. After 2 hours, Moreno called the police and the boys were taken into custody, where they were detained for 5 hours and released to their parents. The bank had chose not to press charges, but warned them about future behavior.
The parents of Forster and Law have threatened legal action against Big Movie, the producers of The Spot, for “endangering children with harmful messaging.” While the studio is trying to settle the incident out of court, it has created a massive PR nightmare. Many movie theater chains have pulled The Spot from their cinemas, or fear of more copycat crimes. “We are trying to spin this as best as we can, but we are currently losing money,” says Big Movie president Lionel McHumble.
On top of the financial difficulties, Big Movie is worried about starting an international incident with their most loyal customer, The Nation of Walmart. The supreme chancellor of Walmart had previously threatened nuclear war on the U.S, after Big Movie’s last film Swan Lake: The Reckoning was a box-office bomb. The success of The Spot was the one thing that was keeping the peace between the two nations.
However, McHumble claims to have received no word from The Nation of Walmart, and hopefully things will still remain calm between them.
